About Ms Jen

“I don’t just teach, I inspire.”
– Ms Jen
A full-time piano teacher, accompanist, and performer based in Singapore since 2012, I have had the privilege of working with a diverse range of students.
From young beginners taking their first steps in music to accomplished working adults honing their skills, my teaching experience spans all levels of proficiency.
Ms Jen's Pedagogy
Music, for me, is more than just mastering the technical aspects of playing the piano.
It’s about creating a positive and enriching learning experience that nurtures a lifelong love for music in my students.
In my role as a teacher, I’m committed to helping students prepare for music festivals, competitions, and piano exams. I believe in empowering my students to reach their full potential while building their confidence in their musical abilities.

In addition to teaching, I firmly believe in providing ample performance opportunities for all my students.
Performing not only builds stage confidence, but it also fosters a sense of community among budding musicians. Through recitals, ensemble playing, and collaborative projects, my students have the chance to share their musical talents with an appreciative audience, creating memories that last a lifetime.
Ms Jen's Teaching Philosophy
“Music is enough for a lifetime,
but a lifetime is not enough for music.”
– Sergei Rachmaninoff

My teaching philosophy centers around establishing a robust musical foundation.
I place a strong emphasis on nurturing proficiency in note-reading, rhythm, technique, and listening skills, as I believe these elements are the cornerstones of successful piano learning.
Recognizing the individuality of each student, I tailor my lessons meticulously to cater to their unique needs and learning styles.
In my view, learning the piano is a lifelong, continuous journey. To stay at the forefront of pedagogy and performance, I make it a priority to attend masterclasses and teachers’ workshops.
These invaluable experiences, led by esteemed educators like Mr. Niccolò Ronchi (Italy), Dr. Nicholas Ong (Singapore & Malaysia), Mr. Loo Bang Hean (Malaysia), and the siblings Mr. Lawrence and Ms. Isabelle Ng from MUSO Academy (Australia), has enriched my teaching methods and repertoire selection.
Beyond teaching, my passion for music extends to the stage. Over the years, I’ve had the honor of gracing numerous stages and participating in various festivals, providing me with a deep appreciation for the transformative power of live performance. Additionally, my role as an accompanist for vocal and violin students, as well as choirs, has not only sharpened my sight-reading skills but also broadened my exposure to a diverse range of musical genres and styles.
In my spare time, I find solace in exploring improvisation and various techniques, continually striving to broaden my own musical horizons. This personal quest for excellence directly enriches my teaching, enabling me to impart fresh insights and approaches to my students.
With an unwavering dedication to nurturing a lifelong love for music, I am enthusiastic about inspiring and guiding students on their individual musical journeys.
